Description
1966 Volkswagen Beetle. This 1966 bug was completely restored by a friend in Denver CO inside and out. He spent 2-3 years on this car. Had it in a few car shows in CO. When he decided to sell it, I thought it was so cute and a work of art.
I bought it and had it trailered to Utah where it has been sitting covered in a garage for last 17 years. Person who restored passed away about 5 years ago so I don’t know where the bug was born or any details prior to purchase. march 2022 had mechanic go through it… replaced battery, plugs, oil, cleaned carb and fuel lines. I drove it home from mechanics shop.
Pictures are 100% true to condition of car. Odometer shows 1083, I believe that is accurate to motor. I have driven the bug maybe 100 miles in 17 years. Love the car but obviously don’t drive it. Time for the bug to be enjoyed and appreciated by a bug lover.
In 17 yrs, replaced battery and had carb cleaned to move it once….from one garage to another. No service history. What you see is what it is. Classic Volkswagen Beetle Buyer's Guide
The Volkswagen Beetle is the single most-produced single-platform automobile in history — over 21.5 million units across more than 60 years of continuous production worldwide. Approached this with an engineer's eye, the Beetle represents one of the most fully-developed mass-market designs of the 20th century, with the basic air-cooled rear-engine layout remaining functionally unchanged from 1938 launch through Mexican production ending in 2003. For collectors entering the air-cooled VW market today, the Beetle offers exceptional parts support, an active international community, and pricing that has remained accessible across most variants. This guide covers what every buyer should verify before purchasing a US-market 1949-1979 Beetle, with particular attention to year-specific details that drive collector value.
