1963 Ford Galaxie
Vehicle Details
Listing Description
1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible saw several significant changes in the Ford lineup of fine cars. Gone was the familiar ' sunliner ' nameplate used by ford for a decade to describe the full size convertible. Also missing was the popular ' Y ' block V-8 engine used since 1954. Ford debuted the small block V-8 this year but John Niec wasn't sure about the new engine and opted for the tried and true 223 C.I.D. ' mileage maker ' inline six cylinder in his new Galaxie 500 convertible. A good choice with this engine selection was the three speed manual transmission. Bought the convertible and preserved and maintained it in its original condition until I bought it in 2007. At this time the car had just over 25,000 miles on the odometer. Phenomenally the car remains in excellent original condition. The original top is in excellent condition and the plastic rear window is only slightly tinted and is dated 9-1962. All of the upholstery is in as new condition. The factory installed break in instructions remain in the left lower corner of the windshield. I also have the anti freeze tag installed at the factory, the heater operating instruction card and the build sheet. There is a factory showroom brochure and the owners manual. The chestnut exterior finish is factory applied save for the right quarter panel and trunk which were refinished at some time for an unknown reason. This car performs flawlessly and all accessories work properly. You may drive it daily with confidence. The fuel and brake systems have been rebuilt. In the trunk you will find the original spare, jack and tools along with the original boot and bag all in excellent condition. This is an incredible survivor for which I would like to find a good home where it will be preserved as it has been and should be. Recently there have been several books written on original cars and all experts agree this is the hottest area of collector cars. They are only original onceTrim: 500 ConvertibleDoors: 2
