The Story Behind Classic Cars Arena
Classic Cars Arena was founded in 2010 by Bogdan Albu and Anca Albu, who run the marketplace as a family business. What started as a side project β Bogdan tracking down a clean first-generation Camaro for a friend β turned, over time, into an extensive practical education in how the classic car market actually works: VIN verification across jurisdictions, cross-border transport logistics, the slow art of telling a real survivor from a polished restomod, and the dozen ways a transaction can go sideways when buyer and seller don't speak the same language β literally and figuratively.
Bogdan is the first to admit he isn't a credentialed marque expert. He's never judged at a concours, never written for Hagerty, and never worked the floor at a major restoration house. What he and Anca did do was spend close to two decades building the operational layer of a classic car marketplace β the unglamorous work of inspections, paperwork, escrow coordination, parts sourcing, and connecting buyers with sellers who'd actually been honest about their cars. That experience shaped how Classic Cars Arena was built: as a marketplace for buyers who want real information, not curated marketing.
Sixteen years later, the site has grown well beyond its origins. The editorial team β restoration specialists, marque historians, and lifelong collectors based across the United States β handles the deep technical writing on each model. Bogdan and Anca still oversee marketplace operations, dealer relationships, and the trust-and-safety side of the business. The mission hasn't changed: build the classic car marketplace they wished had existed when they started.
