Listing Description
1968 Land Rover Defender Army Green with Soft Top, the amazing, iconic, original Land Rover is based upon the success of the World War II Jeep (Ford GPW & Willys MB), its introduction at the 1948 Amsterdam Auto Show set the mold for decades to come. The Land Rover Series II was introduced in 1958, the body sides featured a curved upper edge that became something of a Land Rover trademark. Due to post-war steel shortage, and aluminum surplus, Land Rovers received non-rusting aluminum alloy bodies, providing longevity. In 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles were still in use. Featuring a leaf-spring suspension with selectable two or four-wheel drive (4WD). 2.25 L ADO 23 gas 4 cylinder. Zenith carburetor, fully synchromesh four speed gearbox. The headlights were mounted on the front of the fenders/wings. This Land Rover features a removable canvas top. Split front windows ingenuously allowed for one cracked glass to be replaced vs. replacing a full-length one-piece windshield. Hood mounted spare. The truck is finished in dark green with Army stars. The body is in excellent condition as is the paint. Great lines and gaps. A few minor scratches.1968 Land Rover Defender Army Green with Soft Top, the amazing, iconic, original Land Rover is based upon the success of the World War II Jeep (Ford GPW & Willys MB), its introduction at the 1948 Amsterdam Auto Show set the mold for decades to come.
