In either form, these were elegant and expensive motor cars with the superior engineering and luxurious outfitting that both American and European buyers came to expect from the marque that was producing models as stately as the 600 Pullman and as sporting as the 230 SL. With mechanical fuel injection, disc brakes, and power steering, it was one of the most sophisticated family cars available in its day. This luxurious model was the last of the hand-built Mercedes.
