1950 MG TD
Vehicle Details
Listing Description
1950 MG TD Convertible, was owned and comprehensively restored by an MG collector and enthusiast. The frame off, nut and bolt restoration was true to the original, using what is believed to be the original 1250 cc engine, four speed gear box and rear end. Refinished in its original Clipper Blue finish and Beige interior, this car makes a stunning presentation. This award winning example represents the first year of the final edition of the T-Type line. In the TD, the classic OTS (open two seater) styling was at last underpinned by a modern chassis design, replete with independent coilover front suspension and rack and pinion steering; a perfect convergence of old and new. This car along with one of its MGA stablemates was purchased from the collector’s widow in the Phoenix, Arizona area, properly stored since his death in 2006. The cars were delivered to Coventry Motors for inspection and sorting late last year, where they were certified as road worthy after their lengthy hibernation. This MG TD runs and drives very well, pulling strong behind all 57 horsepower, shifting smoothly through all four gears. Steering is tight and the suspension firm but not uncomfortable. Equipped with four wheel hydraulic drum brakes, the car stops confidently when called upon. Everything is in working order. There aren’t even a handful of minor imperfections from use; this former #1 quality car will still hold its own against any TD in the world. This MG TD and its MGA stablemate are now offered individually or as a pair to discriminating British car collectors. -Vehicle is on consignment and at our clients home -Please Call First and talk to a rep at 231-468-2809 EXT 1 -Showroom is by appointment only Please Call -If you would like a FREE Listing please visit our consignment page or CallTrim: ConvertibleDoors: 2
