Listing Description

1978 Subaru DL Wagon Amazingly solid and original little Subaru. Runs and drives great. Lots of new part. History: Car originally purchased at some point it had an engine failure and sat for many years, salvage title issued for unknown reason. Was then donated to a charity and purchased by a gentleman who didn't want to tackle the mechanical restoration. Current owner is professional Subaru mechanic with a shop in Taos. The car was too solid and complete to pass up so it followed me home on a trailer this winter. tore down the existing engine to find that a valve had dropped and the damage was too severe to rebuild the engine. Fortunate to have sources for weird stuff, found a good long block that had been shelved for decades. started up on the first crank !! Below are all the new parts and work performed to get the car to it's current state. 1980 long block, secondary air system deleted valve lash checked, new valve cover gaskets new water pump distributor cap, rotor, points plugs, wires new OE clutch original manifold and carburetor, new gaskets New alternator Interstate battery voltage regulator New Khumo tires (all 5) ignition tumbler (works on original key) wiper blades wiring repaired Car runs great, bad items: radio doesn't work lighter doesn't work Surface rust around hatch glass small ding front left fender The good: Incredibly solid and original car rust free except for slight surface rust issue runs, drives, steers and stops great everything works except what is listed above including clock (Citizen w/second hand) my favorite little feature. 4WD goes through anything. Very cute, attention getting vehicleDoors: 4
