Description
1970 Chevy C20 long bed. Nice original patina in Chevy Bronze. This truck has a lot of the original details on it. All the trim is there and the dash and doors have been un molested. It even has the original glass with etched identification on it.
It has a solid body with no cancer just a few spots of light surface rust. It was originally a small block 350 with a TH350 automatic transmission. That is how I purchased it about 4 years ago. It is a factory AC truck with functioning air conditioning.
I built this as a reliable daily driver that I use for work and to tow my boat. Some of the work I have done is listed below. 2.5' spindle drop in front / 4' custom 3/4 ton drop springs in back 4 wheel disc brakes new 4 row copper radiator tow hitch GEN IV Big Block bored.030 over with mild cam MSD electronic ignition and Billet distributor MSD Atomic fuel injection gear reduction starter full length headers 700r4 transmission air overload springs in rear power windows power door locks sound system (original radio still works) 20' Detroit Steel wheels High output headlights This truck drives very smooth and straight.Power steering and power brakes. Lowered but doesn't bottom out.
Can still haul a full load in back or tow something without it being overloaded. Has lots of power and torque from the Big Block but still has a smooth idle. Doesn't overheat. The rear end is the original Eaton full floating axle with 4:10 gears in it.
With the tire/rear end/ transmission set up it does 80 mph at 2500 rpms. It originally did 60 mph at 3000 rpm. It cruises down the 880 at 75 in the fast lane all day long. Classic Chevrolet C20 Buyer's Guide (1960–1987)
Most people shopping for a classic Chevy truck go straight to the C10 — the half-ton, the light hauler, the show truck. The C20 gets less attention, and that's exactly why it deserves yours. The three-quarter-ton platform was built for work: Dana 60 rear axle, heavier leaf springs, higher payload ratings, and a drivetrain overspecified for the loads most buyers actually put on it. Same cab, same styling generations, same engine options as the C10. The differences are entirely in the hardware underneath — and those differences are in your favor if you need a truck that can actually do truck things.
