1972 Chevrolet El Camino. Is it a car or a truck? We don’t know, but we do know it’s pretty cool! Restored some years ago, but still in nice shape. We understand the car moved from Vernon BC to Alberta in 2018, making its way to Saskatchewan in 2023 and has been garage stored since then.
The car has had some restoration work through the years, but the timeline is unknown. Paint is nice quality and the car is sharp looking. Chrome front and rear looks to be all new and all the trim and other stainless still is straight and shiny.
Boss chrome wheels and tires fill the wheel wells nicely and the car has a good stance. The bed has been sprayed with bedliner making it quite useful! SS badging on the front grille and a Cowl induction hood are in place, however it doesn’t look like the induction is hooked up at the moment. Hood pins and LED lights are nice additions.
Overall, the exterior of the car is very nice and paint is glossy. Thanks to the sticker on the back window and the controls on the dash, we know this was an A/C car from factory! Unfortunately, the A/C system under the hood has been removed. Besides that, though, the engine compartment is a nice place! Paint is just as good as the rest of the body, and things are neat and tidy.
The car’s VIN tells us it was a 350 V8 car, and that’s exactly what’s under the hood now, but its unknown if this is the matching numbers engine. Topping the 350 is an aluminum intake and FiTech “4-barrel style” fuel injection system with an accessory fuel pressure tank, as the currently the fuel is still supplied by a mechanical pump. Long tube headers, and chromed engine accessories are nice touches.
Power steering and power front disc brakes on this one. The mechanical fan has been swapped for an electric unit and controlled by the ECU. There’s a modern aluminum rad for extra cooling. The interior is also in nice condition with what looks to be replacement door panels and carpeting.
The black vinyl upholstery was replaced and some point and is still in excellent shape and the headliner was also replaced. A B&M shifter is on the floor. A modern CD player/Radio is in place on the dash and there’s speakers tucked behind the front bench seat.
The dash is otherwise stock apart from the addition of a tachometer and the EFI tuning screen. The steering wheel could use replacement or restoration, the lens on the speedometer is hazed over and the dash pad could use replacement, but we’re working on those items. The car shows 7,000 miles, but is obviously at least 107,000 miles, however with only 5-digits, true milage is unknown.
