Druk Auto Sales

Druk Auto Sales, which also uses the name Druk Classic Auto, is a family-run dealership on Highway 10 in Ramsey, Minnesota, in the northern Twin Cities suburbs. The company says it has been family owned and operated since 2003, and Better Business Bureau records give its start date as December 15, 2003. The BBB lists Ronnie Druk as owner and manager and Danny Druk as an owner. Its marketing centers on classic and collector vehicles, with a large indoor showroom.

How the business works

Druk is primarily a dealer that buys cars and sells them from its own lot, rather than a pure consignment house. Its website also lists pages titled Consignment/Sell and Dealer Offer for people who want to sell a car, but the text of those pages did not load when we checked, so we cannot describe the terms. Anyone planning to sell should call and ask how those programs work, what fees apply and how long a car might sit before it sells.

What it sells

The company says it deals in vehicles "from the 1920's to late model," and describes muscle cars, hot rods and cruisers among its stock. A listing on Classics on Autotrader showed about 50 vehicles at the time of research, with prices starting around $5,480. Examples on that listing included a 1968 MG MGB roadster, a 1956 Packard Patrician and a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette. Because the range runs up to late-model vehicles, not everything on the lot is a collector car, so check the year and condition of any specific vehicle you are interested in.

Buying from Druk

Druk's site says buyers are welcome to have a vehicle inspected by their own mechanic before purchase. It says out-of-state customers can get photos and video of cars, and that its sales staff will provide a free vehicle history report. Several of those steps are standard good practice, and our notes on what to check before you buy cover them in more detail.

On financing, the site recommends two lenders: J.J. Best Banc and Co, which it describes as a long-running classic car lender, and Royal Credit Union. Buyers apply with the lender first and then return to the dealership with a pre-approval. The website also has pages for shipping and warranties, and the company runs a detailing operation, Druk Auto Detailing. Details of each are on the dealer's own pages and worth confirming by phone, as is anything about extra fees or what is covered.

Reputation

The BBB lists Druk Auto Sales as accredited since September 26, 2018, with an A+ rating. The BBB page showed two complaints closed in the past three years and no customer reviews posted there. On Birdeye, the business holds 4.2 stars from 116 reviews. Ratings on other sites vary, and the Birdeye reviews include both positive and critical comments, so it is worth reading recent reviews yourself. Compare each description with the photos and ask for any claim about mileage or restoration work in writing.
