Silverstone Motorcars

Silverstone Motorcars is a classic car sales, consignment and storage business at 2350 Turnpike Street (Route 114) in North Andover, Massachusetts. Founder Paul Fluckiger told a local newspaper in 2021 that he started the company around the time of the 2008 financial crisis after a career in the software industry. The business's own site says it handles the purchase, sale or export of cars "ranging from modern sports cars to vintage exotics, American muscle cars to European classics."

How the business works

Silverstone sells cars from inventory and also works as a broker and consignment seller. Its site lists four core services: selling classic cars globally, brokering cars for clients, exporting cars worldwide and storing cars in a climate controlled facility. In the 2021 interview Fluckiger said the company is not really a retail outlet and sells most of its cars online, although visitors do walk in. The consequence for buyers is that some listings may be owned by someone else and stored elsewhere, so confirm each car's location and ownership before you plan a trip.

What it sells

The inventory is mixed. The company's own copy covers European classics and American muscle cars, and its listings also include some late model sports cars. The site has a "Recently Sold" page and a "Car Finder" form where visitors can describe the car they want and be notified when a match arrives. To compare with other sellers, browse classic cars for sale around the state.

Consigning with Silverstone

The site's consignment page promises to sell your classic car worldwide, and argues that networking a car around the world brings a higher price. It says there is no catch and invites owners to call for a valuation. Commission rates and contract terms are not published on the page, so ask for them in writing. Buying, financing and export

Buyers can apply for financing through a form on the company's site. Silverstone says it exports cars worldwide and lists a separate contact for Canadian customers. As with any remote purchase, ask for the title status, request extra photos or video and arrange an independent inspection before wiring money.

Storage and service

Storage is a significant part of the business. The company's site lists heated indoor storage in three tiers, Gold, Silver and Bronze, which differ in how quickly a car can be accessed. Monthly prices listed on the site range from $235 to $275, and it also mentions gated outdoor storage for cars, trailers, RVs and boats. Prices may change, so confirm them by phone. The 2021 article also described an on-site mechanical shop of roughly 15,000 square feet, and the site's navigation includes a repair page, although that page was not loading when we checked.

Reputation

According to its Better Business Bureau profile, Silverstone Motorcars has been BBB accredited since November 2013 and carries an A+ rating. We could read this only through a search listing of the BBB page, so check the BBB site for current details. We did not verify star ratings from review platforms.
