Description
Price: US $36,840 (CAD $51,990 at the dealer).
1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. Nice little baby bird looking so sweet with a bright red exterior, and white interior with white convertible top, and red hard top. Restoration happened some years ago, but the car still looks like the job was completed recently.
Some detailing and polishing instore here at Rod’s to bring it right back to perfect! Being a ’55 there’s no continental kit and no porthole in the hard top roof, but the exhausts exits out of ports above the rear bumper and the styling of the entire car is so iconic! Well-equipped with the 312 V8, now topped with a Holley 4-bbl carb, 3-speed automatic transmission, 4-way power seat, true wire wheels, telescopic steering wheel, dual exterior rear view mirrors, tachometer, clock, full gauges, radio (now replaced with an older cassette unit) and heater. No power brakes, but power steering is a nice option for parking lot maneuvers. The convertible top is manually operated (power tops not offered until 1958) and does require 2 people to put it in place, but once it’s up, the rag top is in nice condition.
A word of caution though, taller drivers will want to test fit the car before buying as anyone over about 6 feet tall will find it difficult to sit up straight with either of the tops on the car. This one is designed for more petite people and the large steering wheel limits leg room as well. The trunk is finished with a carpet kit and a matching white wall spare tire is included.
Paint, chrome and interior upholstery and carpets are all still in very nice condition. A very enjoyable car to drive and easy to cruise in on a nice summer’s day! The odometer shows 69,000 miles, but with only 5 digits and a restoration true milage is unknown.

Classic Ford Thunderbird Buyer's Guide
The Ford Thunderbird launched in 1955 as Ford's answer to the Chevrolet Corvette, a two-seat personal luxury convertible meant to position Ford as a maker of stylish, sporting cars. By 1958, Ford had pivoted the entire concept toward four-seat personal luxury, and the Thunderbird became the template for an entire genre of American automobiles. Across eight platform generations and 25 years of classic-era production (1955-1979), the Thunderbird represents one of the most varied collector markets in the American hobby, from the iconic two-seat "Baby Birds" to the personal-luxury "Square Birds," "Bullet Birds," and beyond. This guide covers what every buyer should verify before purchase across each major era.
