Description
Immaculate 1955 Thunderbird. Built on last day of 1955 production year. Might be last 1955 built, but cannot confirm. Have original factory invoice/window sticker showing date of manufacture. Had one owner for 49 years.
Always garaged and always covered. Any and everything this car ever needed has been supplied. Have stack of receipts over one inch high to illustrate the love. Pampered! Ford did not offer a Continental Kit until 1956 but did authorize dealers to install them on the 1955 as Ford did not want to make changes to their assembly line during the 1955 model year.
This is a rare factory approved Continental Kit for a 1955. New Coker tires were installed. These are radial tires that were specially engineered to look like the bias-ply tires of that era. Has both hard top and soft top.
Hard top comes off and on very easily and soft top is permanent behind seats. Brand new black soft top, see pics. V-8 engine with 4spd manual transmission. Everything smooth running and shifting. No mechanical issues.
Ford used a 6-volt electrical system in 1955. This one upgraded to 12 volt. New battery four months ago. Adjustable steering wheel. From childhood, I had always wanted a red 1955 Thunderbird. That dream came true.

Classic Ford Thunderbird Buyer's Guide
The Ford Thunderbird launched in 1955 as Ford's answer to the Chevrolet Corvette — a two-seat personal luxury convertible meant to position Ford as a maker of stylish, sporting cars. By 1958, Ford had pivoted the entire concept toward four-seat personal luxury, and the Thunderbird became the template for an entire genre of American automobiles. Across eight platform generations and 25 years of classic-era production (1955-1979), the Thunderbird represents one of the most varied collector markets in the American hobby — from the iconic two-seat "Baby Birds" to the personal-luxury "Square Birds," "Bullet Birds," and beyond. This guide covers what every buyer should verify before purchase across each major era.
