Description
1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL – “Pearl” in Astral Silver with Blue Leather This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL, affectionately known as “Pearl,” has been driven and enjoyed for over 3,000 miles under current ownership — carefully maintained and improved along the way. Finished in its original Color Code #735 Astral Silver over blue leather interior, this SL remains a highly original, well-sorted example of Mercedes’ iconic R107 roadster. Highlights: Original factory paint – never repainted Optional Bundt alloy wheels Desirable double-row timing chain Smooth-running V8 engine, starts and drives excellent Excellent HVAC system (notoriously tricky and expensive to repair — this one works properly) Two tops: factory hardtop and soft top included New brakes New leather seat upholstery, carpets, and mats Rust-free body and undercarriage OEM cruise control fully functional 3.5mm Bluetooth-compatible audio cable installed Notes: Odometer was replaced with a used working unit; mileage shown is not actual.
This 380SL offers the perfect balance of originality, usability, and timeless style. With its strong mechanicals, cold A/C, and both tops included, “Pearl” is ready for open-road enjoyment or relaxed weekend cruising — a fine example of a well-cared-for R107.

Mercedes-Benz 380 SL Buyer's Guide
Emily Chen here, and the R107 Mercedes SL is the car that most clearly explains what a grand touring roadster is supposed to be. Not a pure sports car — the 380 SL was never trying to compete with a Porsche for corner speed. Not a pure luxury car — the soft top is right there above your head. It's a machine engineered for covering long distances in complete comfort with a passenger who appreciates quality, and it executes that mission with a German thoroughness that was unmatched in 1980 and remains impressive today.
The 380 SL specifically was Mercedes's US-market answer to tightening emissions regulations. The 450 SL that it replaced used a 4.5-liter V8; the 380 SL's 3.8-liter unit was lighter, cleaner, and — in initial production — somewhat less satisfying. But the chassis, the interior, and the overall experience are the same R107 magic that made this generation the longest-running production SL in Mercedes history.
