Carriage House Automotive Restorations

Carriage House Automotive Restorations is a restoration shop in New Lenox, Illinois, that says it blends concours level restoration with hot rod and restomod creativity. Its website lists metal fabrication, chassis building, and powertrain selection and tuning for all makes and models. The shop's address is 22002 Howell Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451.

History and ownership

The shop's website does not give a founding year or owners. A Better Business Bureau profile for Carriage House Automotive Restoration, Inc. lists a start date of 2006 and names Tom Anderson as president, while a directory listing elsewhere gives 1995. Because those sources disagree, we do not state a founding year.

What it restores

The shop works on classic cars across makes, from original restorations to restomods and hot rods. The BBB profile describes vintage and antique restoration including frame-off work, engine modification, metal fabrication and custom upholstery.

Work done in-house

According to the shop, its team does metal fabrication, chassis building, powertrain work and complete restoration in-house. That mix suits customers who want a car rebuilt to original standards as well as those who want modern running gear under a classic body.

Awards

The shop lists four honors on its site: a 2014 FCA National Meet Medallion of Excellence, a 2013 Detroit Autorama Best in Class, a 2013 AACA Hershey Senior Award and a 2013 AACA National Bomgardner Award. These are the shop's own listings, and the dates are a decade old, so ask what recent projects it has completed.

Working with the shop

The shop invites prospective customers to call and schedule a consultation. It does not publish pricing terms, deposits or reporting practices. Long restorations rarely finish on the first estimate, so ask how timelines and costs are updated as work proceeds. The guide on how restoration budgets add up explains why.

Reputation

The BBB rates the business A+ but it is not listed as accredited on the page we read. Birdeye shows more than one listing for the shop with differing ratings and counts, so we do not quote a star score. Read recent reviews directly and ask for references from owners of comparable cars.
