Description
This 1971 Chevrolet Malibu is a genuine barn find with authenticity to match. A matching-numbers 307 V8 automatic, it shows just 23,000 miles on the odometer and remained with its original owner until 2018, having spent the majority of its life in Greenbrier, Arkansas. The car runs and drives, though the motor would benefit from attention—a lifter tick and gasket leak await a rebuild.
Power steering, air conditioning, and power brakes round out the original equipment. The body reflects its 43-year dormancy: the left rear quarter panel carries damage from a 1975 accident and requires restoration work, with two small rust holes visible in the bottom quarters. The good news is significant—floor pans and trunk remain rust-free.
This is a genuine project with solid bones and documented provenance, ideal for a discerning enthusiast ready to bring it back to its potential.

Chevrolet Malibu Buyer's Guide (1964–1977)
People see "Malibu" and think grocery car. That's a mistake. The Malibu was the trim-line above the base Chevelle from 1964 to 1972, and it was available with the full V8 engine roster — including the 396 big-block. What it wasn't was the SS, and that distinction matters to some buyers and not at all to others. If you need the SS badge for show-point purposes, buy an SS. If you want an A-body Chevrolet that drives great and doesn't cost SS money, the Malibu is the car I'd send you to look at.
