B&B Auto Sales

B&B Auto Sales is a family-owned dealership at 532 Main Avenue South in Brookings, South Dakota. The business says it has operated since 1987, starting in White, South Dakota, and moving to Brookings in 1989. It is not a classic-only lot: B&B also sells everyday used cars, trucks and SUVs and runs a rental business. But its website carries a dedicated classic car section that listed 72 vehicles when this profile was researched.

How the business works

B&B buys and sells vehicles from its own stock rather than taking cars on consignment. Buyers deal directly with the dealership, and the company says it offers nationwide delivery, so a truck or muscle car does not have to be collected in person. For anyone weighing a long-distance purchase, our guide to buying a classic car from a dealer covers the questions worth asking before money changes hands.

What B&B sells

The classic inventory leans toward American trucks and muscle. The dealership says it focuses on vintage muscle cars, classic pickups and collectibles from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, GMC and Jeep, and names the Mustang, Bronco, Camaro and C10 truck among its staples. Listings seen on its site included a 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT 4x4, a 1985 Chevrolet C10 shortbox, a 1982 GMC C1500 shortbox, a 1986 Chevrolet K10 4x4, a 1989 Ford Mustang GT, a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1999 Plymouth Prowler. Asking prices on those examples ranged from roughly $15,000 to $36,000, which puts much of the stock in driver-quality territory rather than concours.

Inventory turns over, so treat those examples as a snapshot rather than a current list.

Buying from B&B

According to the company's site, buyers can apply for financing online, get pre-qualified through Capital One and use a loan calculator. B&B also offers trade-in valuations, and it says it provides vehicle history reports and detailed repair tickets. As with any classic, an independent pre-purchase inspection is worth arranging, especially on older trucks where frame, floor and body condition matter more than a clean engine bay. The company describes its sales approach as no-pressure and built on trust, integrity and respect.

Reputation

The Better Business Bureau lists B&B Auto Sales with an A+ rating. The business is not BBB accredited, and the BBB profile showed no complaints closed in the last three years and only one customer review on file, so the rating is a thin basis for judging the dealer. The BBB records the business start date as 1988, a year later than the company's own 1987 founding claim. Ask for references and a full history on any specific vehicle you are considering.
