The company opened in February 1999 in Fairmont City, Illinois, across the Mississippi from St. Louis, and in March 2014 moved into its current showroom on Central Park Drive in O'Fallon, Illinois, which also serves as corporate headquarters for the national network. Visitors will find an automotive gift shop alongside the cars. The business model, used at every Gateway store, is consignment: owners leave their vehicles for sale, keep the title until a buyer appears, and receive their agreed amount when the car sells.
