RPM Sports Cars

RPM Sports Cars is a Houston, Texas dealer that sells Porsche sports cars and a smaller number of Mercedes-Benz models, and describes its site as a "virtual showroom." The contact name on its site is Ray Joseph.. The site lists no street address and no business hours. The business is independent and is not affiliated with Classic Cars Arena.

Who it is

The home page header names Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Lotus as the marques it deals in, but the stock we saw was mostly Porsche. Ray Joseph is the name and (713) 465-4606 the number on its inventory page. No founding year is published on the pages we read.

What it sells

The inventory is mostly Porsche 911s from the late 1980s and 1990s. On the day we checked, its inventory page listed a 1997 993 Turbo X50, a 1994 911 3.6 Turbo S Flachbau, a 1992 911 Carrera RS, a 1989 911 Carrera coupe, a 1989 Carrera in Turbo-look form and a 1988 Carrera Club Sport. A 1994 Turbo S Flachbau on ClassicCars.com is described with 4,900 miles, and two 1989 Carreras show 6,600 and 28,600 miles. Alongside these the dealer listed newer cars: 2018, 2019 and 2024 911 Turbo S models, a 2020 Macan, a 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 and a 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. That means about half the stock is modern, so confirm the model year you are interested in. It also sells small accessories such as new Lloyd floor mats and Blaupunkt radios. Prices were not visible on the site index pages we read.

Buying from RPM Sports Cars

The site does not describe financing, shipping or an inspection program. As with any collector Porsche, particularly one with very low mileage, ask for the full service history, evidence that the mileage is original, paint-thickness readings and any accident history, and consider a pre-purchase inspection by an independent shop that knows air-cooled cars. Our guide to consigning a classic is also worth reading if you are thinking about leaving a car with a dealer to sell.

Buying and consigning

The home page says RPM is "always paying top prices" for low-mileage, high-quality cars, whether one car or an entire collection. It also says it is now accepting a limited number of quality consignments, with details available by phone. No commission, term or insurance details are published, so get those in writing before handing over a car.

Reputation

No review counts are available here. The dealer has a ClassicCars.com dealer page with 12 listings, which is not a measure of customer satisfaction. Ask for references if you are making a large purchase and read any listing carefully for the title status. To compare other air-cooled cars from other sellers, browse classic Porsche 911s for sale.
