Classic Auto Haus

Classic Auto Haus is a family-owned classic car dealer at 215 N. Fourth Street in DeKalb, Illinois, about an hour west of Chicago. Owner Steve Turner told the student newspaper The Northern Star in January 2024 that the business had been in operation for more than 30 years, and that it had outgrown its earlier home in Geneva. The dealership focuses on muscle cars and convertibles from the 1960s and 1970s.

History and the move to DeKalb

The company was known as a Geneva dealer, with an address at 1002 Commerce Drive, before it opened an indoor showroom in a former bowling alley and art gallery building in downtown DeKalb in February 2024. The DeKalb City Council approved the project in October 2023, and local reporting at the time described a space for about 35 to 40 cars. Early coverage called DeKalb a second location, while later coverage said the business had outgrown Geneva. Some directories still show the Geneva address, so confirm the current address and phone number before you travel. No founding year is published by the dealer, and the "over 30 years" figure is the owner's own statement.

What they sell

Turner has said he builds inventory around cars he would drive himself, and that convertibles are his favorite. In 2026 the dealer had about 39 listings on ClassicCars.com, mostly from the mid 1960s to the early 1970s. Examples include a 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 tribute, a 1969 Mustang Mach 1, a 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible, a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda with a Hemi tribute build and a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop. Listed prices ran from about $19,995 to $95,000. Note the word "tribute" on some cars: it means a car built to look like a rarer model, which is worth understanding before you pay a premium.

Buying from Classic Auto Haus

This is a conventional dealer, selling its own cars rather than consignments. A past version of its website listed a financing page, a "prospective buyers please read" page and a call for trade-ins, so financing and trades appear to be offered, but the details were not available when this profile was researched. The dealer's own website was not reachable at that time, so ask directly about fees, deposits, shipping and title paperwork. Local reporting in 2023 said the DeKalb building would not host repair work and that mechanical and paint work would be outsourced, so ask who has serviced any car you are considering. General advice on dealer purchases is covered in what to check before you buy.

Reputation

Public records are limited. The BBB lists the business as not accredited and not rated, with no complaints closed in the last three years and no customer reviews on its page. A Birdeye listing for the Geneva address shows 4.6 out of 5 stars across 54 reviews, though that profile has not been claimed by the business. Treat any rating as a starting point, ask for photos and records on a specific car, and consider an independent inspection, especially on high-dollar cars.
