Classic Motorcars
Owner-run Jacksonville collector car seller since 2015, moved from Boston in 2020; buys cars and estates and offers secure storage.
About Classic Motorcars
Classic Motorcars is a small, owner-run collector car business in the San Marco area of Jacksonville, Florida. It sells a hand-picked selection of vintage and modern sports, classic and exotic cars, buys cars from private owners and estates, and runs a climate-controlled storage facility at the same address. The business is the work of one enthusiast, Lew, who signs its website as "Head Car Geek" and writes about his inventory in the first person.
From a Boston collection to Jacksonville
According to the company's own history, Lew caught the car bug around 1977 on Long Island, New York, and bought his first car at 14: a 1970 Chevelle SS396, paid for with paper route savings and help from his father. A long corporate career followed. After selling a business in 2006, he bought a new Ford GT Heritage and then his first Porsche, and he began building a small collection while storing cars for other collectors in spare warehouse space near Boston.
He opened Classic Motorcars near Boston in 2015, at first selling cars from that growing collection. In 2020 he moved the business to Jacksonville, where it now operates from 4570 St. Augustine Road.
How the business works
Classic Motorcars is not a high-volume lot. The company says Lew looks for very good examples of cars he likes, sorts them out where needed, drives and enjoys them for months or sometimes years, and then finds each one a new home. In his words, he is "not in this business to flip cars and make a quick buck." The practical result is a short inventory list: its ClassicCars.com page showed eight cars in early October 2026.
Because the stock is mostly cars the business owns and knows, buyers can expect to deal directly with the person who bought and drove the car. It is still worth asking for service records, any known issues and the title status in writing, and arranging an independent inspection if you are buying from out of state. Our guide to buying from a classic car dealer lists the questions to ask.
What they sell
The inventory reflects one collector's taste, and it ranges widely. In March 2026 the featured cars on the dealer's site were a 1995 De Tomaso Guara Barchetta, a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL, a 1976 Porsche 911 Sondermodell and a 1952 Allard J2X, with asking prices from about $65,000 to more than $300,000. Cars that have passed through over the past two years include a 1981 BMW M1, a 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, a 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA and both first and second generation Ford GTs.
It is not all six-figure exotica. Japanese sports cars are a regular theme, with several Datsun 240Z, 280Z and 280ZX coupes, Toyota Supras and even a 1990 Toyota Century, and American muscle such as a 1970 Chevelle LS6 appears alongside British cars like the Sunbeam Tiger. Listings on ClassicCars.com in October 2026 ran from under $10,000 to about $355,000. For a wider view of the local market, see Florida classic cars for sale.
Selling a car or an estate collection
The company describes itself as a cash buyer of vintage and modern cars, and a July 2025 post on its site repeats that it buys both. It also works with estates, connecting executors with professional appraisers and buying estate vehicles itself. An earlier version of its Sell Your Car page also mentioned consignment sales, with cars advertised on the major classic car websites and the company handling negotiations with buyers; sellers interested in that route should confirm it is still offered.
Financing and storage
- Financing: the company's finance page names Woodside Credit, a lender that specializes in classic cars, as its partner for buyers who want a loan.
- Storage: Jacksonville Car Vault, run by Classic Motorcars at the same St. Augustine Road address, offers secure, monitored, climate-controlled storage in a 10,000 square foot building, with cars kept alongside the dealer's own collection. Plans include regular starts and trickle charging, and pickup, delivery and detailing are available on request.
