The company, which is registered as SW Dynamic Motorsports LLC, says it is an authorized Shelby dealer that specializes in collector-grade Shelby Cobras and Superformance products, and that it also helps owners and curators buy and sell other collector marques. It is an independent business and is not affiliated with Classic Cars Arena.

The About page is signed by Mark Logan as President and CEO. The site says the company says it has built a clientele "for more than a quarter century," and a photo caption dates a meeting with Carroll Shelby to November 2004. No founding year is published, so we do not give one. The age and the authorized-dealer status are the company's own statements.

How the business works

The contact page says cars are shown by appointment only, and the Southlake address is a mailing address. The services page lists locating specific cars, evaluating condition, negotiating, documents, funds transfer and delivery. The company also says it offers curation, storage, insurance and financing. Owners can list a car on the site for free, and the site mentions private sales negotiations, though it does not publish what it charges a seller.

What it sells

When we checked, the listings page showed about 15 cars, with Shelby and Ford the biggest groups. The mix runs from a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado listed at $23,555 and a 1967 Chevrolet El Camino at $42,500 to a 1967 Shelby GT500 at $267,555, a 1965 CSX4000 alloy-body Cobra at $371,245 and a 1967 Cobra 427 S/C at $3,200,000. Other entries include a 1966 Mustang GT convertible, a 1966 Shelby GT350H, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird and a 1969 GT40 Mk I continuation car. Some entries carry no price. Stock changes, so confirm that a car is still available before making plans.

Locating and inspection services

The services page says the company will locate a car, appraise it and arrange a pre-purchase inspection that produces a ten page report. The listed terms are a $500 retainer, which the site says covers a garage inspection typically costing $250 to $400, and a fee of 10 percent of the selling price for cars it locates. Unused retainer money counts toward that fee. The site also quotes $300 to $1,500 for enclosed ground transport in the United States and prices to Europe starting at $1,295, and that about half of its classic car business is international. All of these figures are the company's own, so ask for a written quote.

The Better Business Bureau lists Dynamic Motorsports with an A+ rating, although the business is not BBB accredited. We did not find a count of customer reviews we could verify. As with any broker, the deal depends on who is holding the car, so ask who owns each vehicle, where it is parked, and who is paid at each stage.
