Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is the Chicagoland showroom of the consignment dealer Gateway Classic Cars, set on Commerce Drive in Crete, about 35 miles south of downtown Chicago and a short drive from northwest Indiana. The company says the store opened in 2012 and moved to its current building in 2017. Most of what sits on the floor belongs to private owners: they bring the car in, agree on the amount they want, and Gateway adds its margin, photographs and lists the car, and handles the sale. Buyers deal with the showroom staff, can ask for a live video walk-around if they live far away, and arrange financing and transport through Gateway's outside partners. The mix runs from muscle cars and hot rods to trucks and later collectibles. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
