Rustfree Classics

Rustfree Classics is a small dealer of rust-free classic 4x4 trucks and SUVs in Bargersville, Indiana, about 20 miles south of Indianapolis by its own description. The company's slogan is "Bringing the Best of the West to the Midwest," meaning original, dry-climate trucks from the 1960s through the 1990s that it buys in the western states and resells to buyers in Indiana and well beyond.

History

The company's website has an unusually long public record. Archived copies of rustfreeclassics.com go back to 1999, when the site listed an Indianapolis address and phone number and offered original cars and trucks from the 1960s and 1970s, including a 1972 Chevelle SS and a 1966 Mustang fastback. By 2012 the site had narrowed to western 4x4 trucks, Blazers, Broncos and Suburbans, and it has used the same phone number and email address since at least then. The business now lists a Bargersville address; we could not determine when the move from Indianapolis happened. A directory summary of its Better Business Bureau record gives an incorporation date in 1998, which we could not confirm on the BBB page itself.

What it sells

Rustfree Classics sells trucks and SUVs, not classic cars in the traditional sense. Its site says it specializes in "original, restorable and affordable" vehicles. The current inventory page lists three trucks: a 1996 Ford F-250 extended cab XLT at $12,500, a 1986 Chevrolet K10 Suburban Silverado at $10,950 and a 1986 Chevrolet K20 Silverado Suburban at $17,950. Its recently sold list covers Ford F-series pickups and a 1995 Bronco, Chevrolet and GMC Suburbans, Dodge Power Rams and a Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, with sale prices shown between roughly $8,000 and $20,000. Listings describe many of the trucks as one-owner California survivors with original paint, though those descriptions are the seller's own.

Inventory is small and changes often. The company asks visitors to check the site regularly and follow its Facebook page for new arrivals, and it has a form for buyers to describe a truck they want. Buying from Rustfree Classics

This is a dealer-stock business, not a consignment house, and the website does not describe financing, trade-ins or inspection services. It does say it can arrange shipping across the country and worldwide, and it says it will also arrange shipping for a classic you bought elsewhere, which it calls cheaper than other options. Treat that price claim as marketing and get a quote. Because many of the trucks come from out of state, it is worth reading what to check before you buy, then asking for the title status, the VIN and a detailed look at the frame, floors and bed, since "rust-free" is a claim you should verify yourself.

Reputation

The Better Business Bureau lists Rustfree Classics under classic car dealers with an A+ rating. The company is not BBB accredited, and the page showed no complaints in the last three years and no customer reviews. We did not find Google or Yelp ratings we could confirm, so there is little public feedback to weigh beyond the dealer's own site and its long web history.
