Vantage Motorworks
North Miami dealer and restoration shop for classic and later Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars, trading since 1974 under owner Richard Gorman.
About Vantage Motorworks
Vantage Motorworks is a North Miami dealer and restoration shop that concentrates on Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars, from coachbuilt postwar classics to late-model Park Ward saloons. The company dates itself to 1974, a date that matches its Better Business Bureau file, and it is owned by Richard Gorman. Unlike many classic car dealers, it does almost all of its restoration work under one roof, and several of the cars it has restored have won their class at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Five decades in North Miami
Vantage describes itself as a seller, service shop and restorer of high quality automobiles since 1974, and its About page opens by noting that the company was entering its 50th year. A sponsored 2019 feature in duPont Registry adds some background: in the mid-1980s Gorman ran a small garage in North Miami that specialized in high-quality imported cars, and the business advertised in every issue of that magazine from its first issue onward. Over time it narrowed its focus to Rolls-Royce and Bentley and, rather than send out interior, woodwork or paint, it hired its own trimmers, carpenters and body craftsmen. Archived copies of the company's website show it already advertising Rolls-Royce and Bentley sales, service and restoration in 2002.
What Vantage Motorworks sells
Every car in the current inventory is a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley. In early October 2026 the company's site and its ClassicCars.com page listed cars including:
- a 1959 Bentley S1 Continental fastback built to H.J. Mulliner design 7466, and a 1962 Bentley S2 Continental by H.J. Mulliner;
- two 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III long-wheelbase cars with James Young SCT100 "Baby Phantom" coachwork, one described as the Paris Show Car;
- a Florida-delivered 1965 Silver Cloud III and a 1969 Phantom VI limousine;
- 1991 and 1995 Bentley Continental convertibles and two 2001 Rolls-Royce Park Ward models.
Prices are not published on the listings, so buyers need to ask. The company also notes that cars often become available at short notice and invites buyers to tell it what they are looking for.
Restoration and service
Restoration is central to the business. The company says it returns classic Bentleys and Rolls-Royces to original specification and, when parts are no longer made, has replacements made by hand. According to its site, the staff includes ASE Master Technicians, certified body technicians and upholsterers, most of whom have been with the company for at least 10 years and several for more than 25. Service Director Jorge Mateu, whom the company credits with more than 25 years of classic restoration experience, oversees the mechanical, wood, upholstery and body shops.
The company's awards page lists the concours results of cars it has restored. Among them are Best in Class at Pebble Beach in 2015 for a 1952 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV Sedanca de Ville by Hooper, which the page says also took the Lucius Beebe Trophy, and Best in Class for prewar Rolls-Royce and Bentley that year for a 1933 Phantom II. The page also lists second and third places at Pebble Beach between 2006 and 2014, a 2017 class win at the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance, and awards at Amelia Island and Villa d'Este for a 1936 Lancia Astura.
Beyond restoration, Vantage offers routine maintenance as well as secure, alarmed, air-conditioned indoor storage, with collection management and consulting available on request.
Buying from Vantage Motorworks
Vantage operates as a traditional dealer with its own stock, and its site does not publish financing, shipping or consignment terms. Cars of this kind reward careful homework: coachbuilt Rolls-Royces and Bentleys vary enormously by body style, chassis history and the quality of past restoration work, so ask for the chassis number, build records and a record of any restoration done, and consider an inspection by an independent marque specialist. The general checks are covered in our dealer buying guide.
Selling a Rolls-Royce or Bentley
The company's site does not describe a consignment program. The 2019 duPont Registry feature states that Vantage pays good money for English classics, which suggests it buys cars outright; owners of a Rolls-Royce or Bentley should contact the company to ask.
Reputation
Vantage Motorworks has traded for about five decades, according to both the company and its BBB file, which shows an A+ rating and no complaints closed in the past three years; the business is not BBB accredited. Its concours record is published by the company itself, but the events it lists are among the most closely judged in the hobby.
