Wildcat Auto Texas

Wildcat Auto Texas is a small classic car and truck seller in Midland, in the Permian Basin of West Texas. It operates from 1921 Alta Vista Drive under Wildcat Services, LLC, the same company that runs a local hydro excavation, water well drilling and equipment rental business from that address. Its Facebook page calls it "Midland's source for great classic cars." The inventory is small but distinctive, with a lean toward custom trucks, hot rods and Corvettes.

Who they are

The car business is a sideline of an established Midland company rather than a standalone dealership. The website carries the Wildcat Services, LLC name throughout, sales email goes to the parent company's domain, and vehicle listings ask buyers to call and "ask Billy." The company does not publish a founding date for the car operation, and its about page uses generic template text, so there is little official history to report. Its Facebook page has been posting cars for sale since at least 2022.

What Wildcat Auto Texas sells

Stock is limited to around ten vehicles at a time. On the day we checked, the company's own site listed nine, and its listings on ClassicCars.com showed ten, with some overlap. Together they point to a clear taste for custom built trucks and early hot rods:

• Trucks: a 1957 Chevrolet 3100 "Big Window" pickup described as a one-off ground up build with a supercharged LS, five speed manual and air ride, listed at $140,000; a 1958 Chevrolet 3100 at $145,000; a 1966 GMC 100; a 1986 Suburban; and a 1940 Ford custom truck with a chopped top, suicide doors and a narrowed oak bed at $42,000.
• Hot rods and street rods: a 1937 Plymouth roadster and a 1951 Ford coupe.
• Corvettes and muscle: a 1967 Corvette at $162,000, a 1976 Corvette, a 1970 Mustang and a 1975 Chevrolet Vega.
• Other: a 1963 Impala, a 1962 Galaxie 500 and a 2004 Hummer.

Most asking prices fell between about $35,000 and $60,000, with the best trucks and the 1967 Corvette well above that.

Buying from Wildcat Auto Texas

The website includes an online credit application and a payment estimator, though it does not name a lender, and prices are quoted plus tax, tag and title fees. There are also forms to schedule a test drive or ask the company to look for a particular vehicle. The site does not mention shipping, trade-ins or consignment, so ask about any of those before you commit. Several listings carry only a short description, so it is worth requesting more photos, the VIN and title details. If you are new to the process, our guide on how to buy a classic car covers the checks to run, including an independent inspection for a custom build.

Reputation

There is not much public review history to go on. Wildcat Auto Texas's Facebook page, with about 500 followers, shows it as not yet rated, and we did not find a BBB profile for the car business. That is not a warning sign in itself for a small specialty seller, but it does mean buyers should lean on the usual safeguards: see the vehicle or have it inspected, confirm the title, and get the terms of the sale in writing.
