Description
1933 Ford Roadster, WWII Tribute, Downs Body & Chassis, Steel Fenders & Hood, 383ci SBC, Automatic Transmission, Currie 9 Posi This ’33 Ford is a purpose-built, period-inspired WWII tribute that blends traditional hot-rod DNA with thoughtful, name-brand components. The look is authentic and intentional: hand-painted graphics, DuVall-style brass windshield, Dan Fink grille, recently upgraded to leather bucket seats, and a proper big-n-little wire-wheel stance. Underneath the skin, it’s a serious driver with a Downs body and chassis, a stout small-block, and a Turbo 350 Transmission.
Highlights Downs fiberglass roadster tub on Downs chassis; steel front fenders and hood 383ci Small-Block Chevy V8, Griffin aluminum radiator for reliable cooling Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission Currie 9 smoothed rear housing with 3.55 Posi for balanced street performance DuVall-style brass windshield; Dan Fink grille Wheel Vintiques wire spokes: 17 rear / 15 front for classic big-n-little stance Lokar hardware (shifter, linkages, details) Hand-painted WWII-era tribute graphics (not vinyl) Up front, the Dan Fink grille sets the tone clean, traditional, and high quality. The DuVall-style brass windshield delivers the right pre-war profile while the hand-painted nose art pays homage to WWII iconography without looking contrived. Steel front fenders and hood give this car the right heft and panel crispness, while the smoothed Currie 9 out back and the staggered Wheel Vintique spoke wheels finish the silhouette like a proper lakes-style roadster.
Drivetrain & Chassis Engine: 383ci SBC with the right street manners torque on tap and a healthy idle; Griffin radiator keeps temps in check. Transmission: Turbo 350 Automatic Rear: Currie 9 smoothed housing, 3.55 Posi a smart compromise for both cruise nights and highway stretches. Chassis: Downs frame engineered for rigidity; the car tracks straight and feels planted.
Interior Tan Leather Bucket Seats. Lokar shifter and hardware for precise, clean operation. Straightforward, driver-first layout with a focus on function over frills. Tribute Details WWII-style hand-painted graphics done the right way by hand so it ages with character.
Built to be driven and shown; it presents well and turns heads, but it’s not a trailer-queen museum piece. If you’re looking for a ’33 roadster that honors wartime heritage with credible hardware and real road manners this WWII Tribute delivers the brief. Ford Model 40 Buyer's Guide
Jim Vasquez here. People always talk about the Deuce — the 1932 Ford Model 18. And it deserves everything said about it. But the 1933 and 1934 Fords are where the flathead V8 program actually matured. The 1932 was an engineering debut that had its rough edges. By 1933, Ford had two years of production data and the engine was significantly more reliable. The body was updated into a cleaner, more streamlined form. These are better cars than the Deuce in most practical ways, and they cost considerably less — which means more of them are available for people who want to actually build something rather than just own something.
The 1933–34 Ford culture is tight. Goodguys, GNRS, SEMA show circuit — these cars show up with serious builds and nobody looks twice at the non-Deuce status. They're legitimate hot rod material and they always have been.
