Description
1969 Jaguar E-Type/XKE Series 2 Coupe w/Parts High-Level Details Chassis: P1R26899 63k Miles Shown, TMU 4.2-Liter Inline-Six Four-Speed Manual Transmission Signal Red Paint Black Leather Upholstery Factory Power Steering Factory Air Conditioning Chrome-Finished 15' Wire Wheels Dual Stromberg Carburetors Wood-Rimmed Steering Wheel Dual Exhaust System Disc Brakes Chrome Bumpers w/Overriders Large Parts Lot Owner's Manual Service and Refurbishment Records This 1969 Jaguar E-Type/XKE is a Series II fixed-head coupe in Signal Red purchased by the current owner from a seller who had recently acquired a lot of Jaguars from a widow. The odometer reads 63,456 miles, which is assumed to be original based on the engine's condition. This vehicle is a 'scruffy' driver or a driving project car for others.
Per the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, 1,047 LHD E-Type Series 2 produced in Signal Red, of which 202 fixed head coupe were dispatched to the USA; the total is 807, of which there were 153 fixed head coupe. According to historical books, only 577 LHD FHCs left the factory with the 'P' (power steering prefix). These facts, as mentioned earlier, add to the rarity of this gem of a car.
The car has a four-speed manual transmission, a dual exhaust system, chrome 15″ wire wheels, power steering, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an aftermarket AM/FM cassette radio. It appears to have been subjected to a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment circa Summer/Fall 2000 after finding OSJI markings on the door panels dated 09/14/2000. In August 2022, service and repairs included replacing the clutch master cylinder, clutch hose, master-slave, battery, tires, cooling system hoses, alternator belt, fluid flush, and refill.
Also, in April 2019, East Coast Jaguar, Inc. (Wilmington, DE) completed extensive maintenance and repairs. This E-Type/XKE coupe is now offered with an owner's manual, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and more.

Classic Jaguar E-Type Buyer's Guide
When Enzo Ferrari called the Jaguar E-Type "the most beautiful car ever made" at its 1961 Geneva debut, he was acknowledging what every observer of post-war automotive design has had to concede: this is one of the rare cars that achieves genuine sculpture in production form. Across thirteen years and three series (1961-1974), the E-Type combined competition-derived monocoque construction, the legendary XK6 inline-six (and later the V12), and an aesthetic so confident that the original Series 1 cars are now permanent fixtures of the Museum of Modern Art's design collection. For collectors entering the E-Type market today, the appeal is genuine — but the structural and mechanical pitfalls are equally genuine, and require careful navigation.
