Description
1957 Mercury Monterey two door POST that is completely stock original and there is ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. I am the documented second owner of this car, which I bought over 10 years ago as a basket case. It had been sitting for a lot of years.
It has all four 14 inch tires new, the brake linings replaced with new wheel cylinders and lines. The brakes are all bled and tested and everything works as it should. The transmission was rebuilt. I Installed the transmission myself and painted every piece of metal and cowling I had off at the time.
I undercoated every square inch of the underbody. The push button shifter was missing some pieces, had them shipped in. Took it apart and used the parts to rebuild and make the original shifter operable.
The spare shifter is in the trunk of the car for future use or parts. The engine is a Mercury 322 V-8 with a freshly rebuilt Holley four barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. The car has power steering and power brakes.
The AM radio still works and sounds great. I installed new carpet bought from an Internet source. The engine has a fresh oil change and tune up so it really purrrrrrs. I bought and installed a brand new water pump I found on the Internet.
I took this car to one car show last year at Rockabillies and a lot of people went nuts over this car. It is SO CLEAN AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. The upholstery is still very nice and original. This car runs and drives very well, especially for a car that is almost 60 years old.

Mercury Monterey Buyer's Guide
Jim Vasquez here. When people talk about the "'51 Mercury," they usually mean any early-1950s Merc β and the Monterey is the car they mean. It was Mercury's top trim level for most of its run, the version that came with the most chrome, the best interior, and the proportions that George Barris, the Ayala brothers, and a hundred backyard customizers attacked with lead sleds and lowering blocks. The 1952β1956 Monterey is custom culture's favorite canvas.
But the Monterey story doesn't end in the 1950s. By 1966, Mercury was dropping the 427ci FE big block into the Monterey β a NASCAR-derived engine in a full-size cruiser. Same name, completely different animal. Two very different cars for two very different collectors.
