Xtreme Muscle Carz

Xtreme Muscle Carz is a restoration and custom-build shop at 401 Broadway in Highland, Illinois, east of St. Louis. It bills itself as the first stop for muscle car work in the St. Louis Metro East and says it has more than 25 years of experience in automotive restoration.

What the shop restores

The shop's website lists vintage automobiles, American muscle cars, race cars, hot rods, restomods, 4x4s, Jeeps and European classics. That is a broad range, and the emphasis is clearly on American performance cars and custom builds rather than a single marque. Directory notes suggest the business grew out of a collision repair operation, but we could not confirm that on the shop's own pages, so treat it as unverified.

Work done in-house

The site lists restoration, fabrication, custom paint, body shop work and design. It does not say whether complete frame-off restorations are done in-house or detail how much of a build is handled under its own roof, so ask for a clear breakdown of what is done on site and what is sent to outside vendors.

Projects and awards

The site has a gallery of recent restorations but does not describe individual projects in text, and it lists no awards. No independent write-ups of specific builds turned up in our research.

Working with the shop

The shop says it is methodical in evaluation, approach and execution and tailors restorations to each customer's needs and budget. It does not publish how it bills, whether deposits are required or how progress is reported. Before you commit, our guide on choosing a classic car restoration shop offers a checklist of questions.

Reputation

We did not see a rating with at least ten reviews on a page we could open, so none is quoted. Ask for references and visit the shop to see work in progress.
