BMC Motorworks

BMC Motorworks Ltd. is a Vancouver, British Columbia shop that repairs, restores and sells classic British cars. It calls itself "Vancouver's Premier Automotive Restoration Shop," and and some of the cars it sells, such as its E-Type, are described as restored in-house. It is an independent business and is not affiliated with Classic Cars Arena.

Who they are

The company's Facebook page says BMC has been servicing, repairing and restoring cars for more than 40 years, and its Yelp description says it was established in 1983 after six years working on Jaguars and other British cars. Both are the business's own wording. The shop says it specializes in Jaguar, Austin, MG and Mini, and its Yelp text also mentions Morgan and Sunbeam. We found no owner named on the pages we read.

What it sells

The For Sale page describes "a variety of classic, collectible, and modern vehicles" and says all cars are thoroughly inspected. When we looked it showed three vehicles: a 1974 Jaguar V12 E-Type roadster at $165,000 CAD, a 1978 Mini 100 with a 1275cc Cooper S engine at $14,899 CAD and a 1979 Harley-Davidson FLH 80 at $9,900 CAD. The E-Type listing says the car was restored in the shop, shows about 24,000 original miles, and that a heritage certificate and market appraisal are available. All of that is the dealer's description, so ask to see the paperwork.

The recently sold list gives a feel for the usual mix: two other E-Types sold at $190,000 and $110,000 CAD, a 1962 Jaguar Mark II at $37,500, a 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 at $37,000, a 1960 Sunbeam Alpine, a 1981 Triumph Spitfire at $10,500 and a 2010 Jaguar XF at $13,500. Stock is small and changes, so call to see what is available.

Restoration and service

• Servicing and repair, including computer diagnostics, which the Yelp text says covers Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW and Porsche as well as many domestic and Asian makes.
• Parts: its business description includes classic British cars and parts.

The site says restorations done by the shop always receive a warranty. We did not find the warranty terms online, so get them in writing before you buy.

Buying a car here

Viewings and road tests are by appointment, according to the E-Type listing. Prices are in Canadian dollars. We saw no mention of financing, shipping or consignment on the pages we read, so ask about those directly. Reputation

A local business aggregator showed an average rating of 4.7 from 45 reviews, and another showed 41 reviews, though neither made clear which platform the reviews came from. The shop also has a Yelp listing updated in October 2026 and a Facebook page with 167 followers. We found no BBB profile. Ask how long a car has been in stock and what work was done.
