1983 Ford Mustang GLX 5.0-liter Convertible. Don’t let the GT hood badging fool you, this is a very neat little rag top in the upscale GLX trim. Thanks to included Marti report, we know that this is the only mustang in the world done up like this! It’s truly a 1 of 1 car, thanks to being the only one with a metric speedometer shipped to Canada.
Otherwise, there would be 28 others built exactly like this for the American market. Very well-equipped car with a powered blue convertible roof which is brand new. It was equipped with the 5.0-liter V8, 4-speed Manual with Hurst shifter, power steering, handling suspension, traction-lok axle, block heater, interval wipers, center console, TRX metric aluminum wheels, tilt and leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, rear defroster, AM/FM stereo with cassette, premium sound system, power windows and power locks.
In 1983 the car priced out for an astonishing $18,043! That’s nearly Cadillac money! The car you see here is very original, still wearing factory paint and blue upholstery. It still wears it’s Hurst Equipped badging, but the factory metric aluminum wheels have been swapped for more conventional Mustang wheels because the metric Michelin tires (which are the only ones available) are absurdly expensive. A binder with historic documents comes with the car.
The interior is very nice and clean, and the convertible boot still fits well. No cracks in the dash, and no rips or tears on the seats. The car shows 25,000 kms and although it’s a 5-digit odometer and there’s no definitive proof, it looks like that’s the original milage based on the condition.
The information center with LED indicators and Quartz LCD digital clock all still work. A retro sound slim subwoofer has been added to the trunk compartment. The car has been driven but is in fantastic condition for any car from the early 80’s.
Everything you touch still feels tight and new. Nice bang for the buck and a great addition to any Ford collection. Fun to have bragging rights that It’s a one of one car!
