Motorcar Gallery is a Fort Lauderdale dealer in classic and exotic cars that has traded under the same name since 1984. It is best known for European sports and luxury cars, with Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce at the core, but its recent inventory also takes in American muscle cars and late-model supercars. The business changed hands in 2018, when a new group of partners bought a majority stake, and in the last couple of years its listed address appears to have moved from its long-time showroom on U.S. 1 to a nearby street, so buyers should call before visiting.

Four decades in Fort Lauderdale

According to the company's own history, its roots go back to the early 1970s, when founder Ed Waterman ran an exotic car dealership in Virginia that dealt in Ferraris, Maseratis, Rolls-Royces and small Italian specials. Waterman moved to Florida in 1984 and opened Motorcar Gallery on the main road near downtown Fort Lauderdale. The company says that over the following 34 years it sold about 1,300 cars from 71 manufacturers, including more than 400 Ferraris, 114 Maseratis and 113 Rolls-Royces.

In August 2018 brothers Diego Ribadeneira and Barry Lundgren bought a majority interest. Long-time sales manager Tom Clark became a partner, and Waterman kept an interest. The company describes Ribadeneira as the on-site principal and says he has driven the Mille Miglia, the Carrera Panamericana, the Tour Auto and the Le Mans Classic. Lundgren grew up in his family's Honda business in the Boston area, while Clark's family ran The Steering Wheel, a Maserati dealer in South Florida. Together the team claims more than 200 years of combined experience with exotic, vintage and collector cars. The current website now presents the company as a multi-state operation that began with a single showroom.

How the business works

Motorcar Gallery sells cars from its own stock and also takes cars on consignment. Its website lists consignment services, classic and exotic car service, climate-controlled storage, a car finder service and email alerts for new arrivals. The site also has a link to a separate "Massachusetts Inventory" page hosted by High Octane Classics, and several American cars on its own inventory page direct buyers to a contact with a Massachusetts phone number. Buyers should ask where any given car is actually located before arranging a viewing.

What Motorcar Gallery sells

An archived copy of the inventory page from February 2026 gives a good picture of the range. It included:

• two Ferrari 365 GTC/4s, a 308 GT4 Dino, several 308 GTS and GTSi models, Mondial Ts and a 360 Challenge car;
• a Maserati Mistral and two Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS coupes, one described as formerly owned by baseball pitcher Bo Belinsky;
• a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith with Hooper coachwork, a Rolls-Royce Flying Spur and a 2003 Bentley Azure Mulliner Final Series;
• a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce, a Porsche 356SC, a BMW 2000tii and a BMW R69S motorcycle;
• fuel-injected and big-block Corvettes, Camaros, Chevelles, Novas and Plymouth muscle cars;
• a Ford GT Carbon Series listed at $995,000.

Asking prices on that page ran from under $10,000 to close to $1 million, with most classics between about $30,000 and $270,000. Archived listings from 2025 and 2026 also show modern Lamborghinis, Porsche GT3 models and Rolls-Royce SUVs, so the stock is not limited to classics.

Buying from Motorcar Gallery

The company says it helps buyers with value, inspections, finance, transportation, storage and maintenance. Its finance page states that it works with outside partners offering finance and lease programs for classic, exotic and collectible cars. Prices are published on most listings. For a car of this type, ask for the chassis and engine numbers, service records and ownership history, and arrange an independent inspection by a marque specialist before paying a deposit. Selling or consigning a car

Owners can either sell a car to Motorcar Gallery outright or consign it. The sell-your-car page says the company is always looking for classic and exotic cars, including whole collections, and asks owners to send photos, history and a note of the car's strong and weak points so it can decide whether to make an offer. Consignment terms are not published, so sellers should ask for the fee, the length of the agreement and who pays for detailing, storage and transport. Reputation

Motorcar Gallery has operated under the same name in Fort Lauderdale for more than 40 years, and duPont Registry ran a sponsored profile of the business in 2021. We did not find a Better Business Bureau profile for the company and could not open its review pages, so we cannot report a rating. As with any dealer, judge the specific car on its paperwork and an independent inspection.

The company's site footer and recent directory listings give the address as 413 NE 5th Terrace, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Its contact page still shows the former showroom at 407 North Federal Highway, and a 2,000-square-foot showroom space at that address has been advertised for lease since 2024.
