Tampa Bay Sports Cars
Appointment-only Pinellas Park dealer selling vintage and later Porsches since 2013, with consignment and managed PCarMarket auctions.
About Tampa Bay Sports Cars
Tampa Bay Sports Cars is a small Porsche dealer in Pinellas Park, Florida, on the Tampa Bay side of the Pinellas peninsula. It sells a short list of vintage and later Porsches, with a few other collector cars mixed in, from a showroom that opens by appointment. The Better Business Bureau lists the business as started in August 2013, with Charles Grose as president. Besides selling its own cars, the company takes selected cars on consignment and manages online auctions for owners through PCarMarket.
A collector's business
The owner explains the idea on the company's About page. After 35 years in wealth management, the last five, he writes, as president of what is now RBC Wealth Management, he wanted to work on something he loved and set up what he calls a boutique collection of previously owned and investment-grade vintage Porsches. He says he only buys Porsches he would want to own and drive himself, and that he drives each one a good deal before offering it for sale. The site closes with the line "We Drive Our Art! What Do You Do With Yours?"
What Tampa Bay Sports Cars sells
The inventory feed on the company's website lists close to 100 cars over the years, and roughly three quarters of them are Porsches. Past sales cover most eras of the brand: a 1963 356B S Karmann, a 1965 912, early long-hood 911s, a 1970 914-6 GT, a 1987 930 Slantnose Turbo, 964 Turbos and a long run of air-cooled 993s, plus later 911 Turbos. Non-Porsche sales include 1950s and 1960s Corvettes, a 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1, a 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite and a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL.
When we checked in October 2026, 11 cars were listed as available, including a 1963 356B, a 1964 356SC, a 1970 911T, a 1992 911 Carrera 2, a 2016 911 GT3 RS, a 1962 Corvette at $85,900 and a 2003 Ferrari 360 Spider. Several are listed as "Call For Price."
Buying from Tampa Bay Sports Cars
Inspection is the center of the company's pitch. According to the About page, every Porsche gets a 28-point inspection at German Tech, an independent Porsche shop in nearby Largo, before the company buys it, and German Tech fixes whatever turns up. Before a sale, the company says it has a final 28-point pre-purchase inspection done, signed by German Tech's president, and buyers or their representative are welcome to attend. That is a useful starting point, but a shop that services the dealer's cars is not fully independent, so long-distance buyers may still want an inspector of their own. The site does not mention financing or trade-ins, and since some cars are sold for private owners, it is worth asking whether a given car is company stock or a consignment.
Consignment and PCarMarket auctions
The company says it considers consignment "for special cars," and handles advertising, buyer screening, test drives and the paperwork. For owners who prefer an online auction, it runs a managed PCarMarket service that it lays out in seven steps:
- Agreement: a consignment contract and an agreed market value.
- Inspection: a 21-point inspection at German Tech, with any needed work discussed with the owner.
- Preparation: a full detail and a photo shoot of about four to five hours, producing 150 or more photos and videos, including cold start and test drive clips.
- Listing: the company negotiates the reserve with PCarMarket and lists the car on its own account, so the owner can stay anonymous.
- Closing: the sale is completed under the dealer's license and paperwork, and the company works with the buyer's transporter.
Fees and commission are not published, so ask how preparation costs are split if the car does not sell. Our explainer on how classic car consignment works lists the other terms to agree in writing.
Reputation
The business has traded under the same name since 2013. It is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and its BBB profile showed no complaints in the past three years and no customer reviews when we checked. The company's website publishes a single buyer testimonial. Beyond that, there is little public review history to weigh, so judge each car on its paperwork and an inspection.
