The Bonus-Built F1 (1948–1952) started it all — Ford's first purpose-designed truck platform after the war. The 1953–1956 F100 is the golden-era styling icon and the most valuable stock classic Ford pickup. The 1957–1960 and 1961–1966 generations remain undervalued relative to their Chevy contemporaries. The 1967–1972 "bumpside" and 1973–1979 "dentside" trucks are where the market is moving fastest, with Highboy 4x4 F250s developing a cult following of their own.

What to look for when buying

As with all classic trucks, rust is the deciding factor: cab corners, floor pans, door bottoms, and bed sides. Y-block engines in the '50s trucks are charming but parts are thinner on the ground than the later FE and 302/351 Windsor engines, which are supported everywhere. Short beds outsell long beds decisively. Factory 4x4s — especially 1967–1977 Highboys — carry strong premiums and are frequently misrepresented, so verify the divorced transfer case and factory front axle.
